Dr. Mateo is a native of Havana, Cuba, where his diverse academic background, passion for artistry, and global surgical training helped him to become an efficient and adaptive surgeon. He received his Medical Degree from La Salle University in Mexico City, Mexico, before serving as the Chief Resident Physician at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria.

In 2019, Dr. Mateo completed his Plastic and Reconstructive surgery training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Following his completion of training, Dr. Mateo began practice as a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at the Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in McAllen, Texas. Here, he specialized in breast enhancement, liposuction, arm and thigh lifts, cosmetic revision surgery, and body contouring after weight loss. He also served as the hand trauma liaison and the creator and managing physician of the trauma reconstructive surgery line.

With over 12 years of surgical training and 5 years of practice, Dr. Mateo has demonstrated his commitment to plastic and reconstructive surgery excellence. Additionally, Dr. Mateo speaks Spanish fluently, allowing him to best assist native Spanish speakers.
